my 3xggrandfather george mc neill married jane or jean mc donald on 3 jan 1824 in muiravonside, there are strong family links to barony glasgow as their son john was born in whitburn in 1827 and went back to barony to marry as did a few others on the mcneill side. George mcneill came from a long line of miners and he may have moved from glasgow to muiravonside for employement prior to his marraige. Can anyone shed some light on georges parentage, I would be grateful for some help

Miss Webster married Andrew Clyde, who then married Sarah Sills in South Africa. He was on a tour of duty in India and on way back stopped off at the Cape and travelled up to Port Elizabeth where he met and married Sarah. She died when their children were 2,4 and 6 years old and they were put into St Josephs orphanage as he was unable to look after 3 little girls.Anyone know anything about this family???

John Anderson. Married to Agnes Miles (Myles) in Largo, Fife in 1814. A weaver. He had several children, including David who married in Inverness in 1842. There is an Agnes Miles who is buried in Markinch in 1832 but married to a different man - does this mean that John died betwenn 1821 and 1830ish? and she remarried? Can anyone please help to find John. |

Hugh Martin. In The Black Watch Regiment (42nd ) - fought at Waterloo. A Drum Major. Discharged from regiment in Ireland in 1823 and documents state that he was to travel back to his home county and to Alness. I can't find any death details for him in the area including Inverness. His father's name was Alexander and his mother was I think, called Janet Mcleod. His wife was called Isabel McKenzie and they were married in Inverness in 1813. |
